"Long ago, in Chrace a scholar called Antethis started collecting a description of all militaty units of Ulthuan.The book, called the Tome of Might, was stored in a store after the scholar's death. During a war with the dark elves, a mage told that if we did not get the tome before the Dark elves, Ulthuan would be destroyed. The Loremaster upon hearing this sent all the swordmasters out to find the book. A man, by the name of Crayune found it where it was placed 6000 years ago. As the mages read the book that found that not only units were stored in the book. The tome gave locations of major artifacts that had been thought lost. As a result all units have been recorded, finding out the truth by whatever means. The tome is now the centre of the Hall of Might named after the book it's self
Lothern Sea Guard. Lothern is the greatest city in Ulthuan and capital of Eataine. As every city in Ulthuan must provide troops to the Phoenix Crown, the Lothern Sea Guard was formed, for the purpose of providing troops to the Phoenix Crown.They defend not only the mighty walls of Lothern but also the ships of the elven fleet. They are the only citizen troops that do not disband as per norm. The Sea Guard are well-versed in spear and bow which means they can use missile weapons as well as hand-to-hand weapons proficiently, which means that they can do twice as much damage as normal troops. Because of this advantage the Lothern Sea Guard worth the points it costs to equip them well.
The Phoenix Guard are an elite group sworn to protect the Shrine of Asuryan. The Phoenix Guard are the only people allowed to enter the Chamber of Days, where, according to legend is a book which tells not only the past of the High Elven people but also the future. This is often confirmed by the fact that the Phoenix Guard pick up the new Phoenix King when they have just recieved the letter telling them they are the new Phoenix King, and when the Phoenix King dies, the Phoenix Guard arrive to bear the body away. The Phoenix Guard are sworn to silence during their period as a guard, when they are released from service, they do not tell a word or their lives are forfeit.
The White Lions of Chrace take their names from the fierce felines that stalk the mountains of Chrace. The hold the narrows passes through the mountains against the dark elf incursions. They are sworn to protect the inner realms to their last breath. It is said that the White Lions have the prowess and ferocity of their namesakes. A unit of White Lions traditionally guard the Phoenix King ever since one of their units saved the third Phoenix King, Caledor the First, from dark elf assassins. The White Lions are stronger than most high elves becuaseof being brought up in the mountains, and in battle they wield their double-handed war axes
The Shadow warriors are the survivors of the Dark Elves seperation from their Ulthuan kin. They are a nomadic people wondering about northen Ulthuan . They are often joined by elves who have lost family and friends to the Dark Elf raiders and lust for vengeance with a fury and passion that only an Elf may feel. Shadow warriors are use to ambushing and hunting Dark Elf raiders and infiltrators. They will often arrive unbidden to a High Elf mustering and offer their services as scouts and skirmishers to the general of the army
Regiments of archers and spearman are made up of the citizen-soldiers of Ulthuan. Though they are often tradesmen and artists in times of peace, every elf is a trained and deadly fighter in times of war. Over a thousand years ago, Morvael introduced a system of training large bodies of troops from the High Elf citizentry. He predicted that in the future they would need large bodies of trained troops to defend Ulthuan from the Dark elf invaders. Every settlement trains and equips a body of spearman and archers in relation to the size of their population, the retinues of nobles also contribute to the levy. These scattered uints, when brought together, form large regiments of well trained troops. Many are sent north to guard the passes and isles, while the others guard the cities and settlements of Ultuan, against any foe. Both the spearman and archers are garbed with white robes and mail with a border signifying which town they come from. The spearman are equipped with tall helms and sharp spears, The archers wear a lighter mail than the spearman and equipped with powerful bows constructed from alternating layer. Protected by the spearman , High Elf archers are amongst the most decisive in the army, turning the sky black with arrows.
The people of the suffering of realm of Tiranoc still keep the skilled art of fighting from a fast-moving chariot alive. Each chariot is drawn by two fine elven steeds who carry the single Tiranoc noble, and obeys his spoken word. Charioteers traditionally carry the Singing Blade, a Glaive-like weapon cunningly carved and pierced so that it shieks as it is swung. A single blow from a Singing Blade can cleave a fully armoured man in two as it is delivered from the fast-moving chariot. The nobles also expertly wield the sword and bow and often carry these weapons into battle. Charging into battle striking and then wheeling away leaving a trail of dead enemies in their wake, the Charioteers of Tiranoc are a breathtaking sight that no elf in the outerlands can match for speed and grace.
Silver Helm knight are drawn from Ulthuans most noblest sons. Long ago, when men were still fighting with primitive weapons such as the club, the High Elves mastered the proud, powerful horses of Ulthuan and learned how to use them as mounts. The Silver Helms are the culmination of thousands of years of experience in mounted combat. They are encased in silver armour and with lances whose tips are encased with diamond, the Silver Helms are a swift and deadly force. Although they are not as heavily armoured as human knights, they are a more mobile force and use this increased mobility to make them a potent force. They catch their foes unawares crashing into their flanks, braking even the most powerful force.
The reaver knights are a common sight through out Ulthuan as they patrol, tirelessly, the wide land of Ulthuan against Dark Elf incursions. They were formed by Caledor the first, 5000 years ago, at the of the war against the dark elves and any messanger or scout was likely to be slain. Caledor called for a headstrong sons of Ellyrion nobles to bear an important message across the troubled land. Those who answered his call became known as the reavers as they slept in the saddle and lived off the land as they beared the messages across Ulthuan. They served Caledor well and he accurately predicted the need for a group that would constantly patrol Ulthuan. Caledor gave great honour to the knights for their loyalty and bravery, and to this day they still patrol Ulthuan tirelessly and a place amongst them is a much sought after prize. The ranks of the Reavers are still mainly the, headstrong sons of Ellyrion nobles.
The Swordmasters are an order, dedicated to protecting the Tower of Hoeth in the magical realm of Saphery, warrior-ascetics who dedicate their lives to pusuing wisdom to the end of the world. They learn to control the violence. Above all weapons, the Swordmasters of Hoeth, prefer the Elven Greatsword, a blade, a full 6 feet in length, double-egded and razor-sharp. The Swordmasters are so well-trained that they can use the greatsword without penalty.
High Elves in the more isolated regions of Ulthuan, they do not train in large groups as the spearman and archers in the larger cities, but instead they hone their personal skills and in times of need they band together in small fighting bands. And unlike the regimented spearmen and archers, they can be diversely equipped.
The Dragon Princes hail from the realm of Caledor. In ages past, the Dragon Princes could command enough Dragons to turn the sky black. But in recent years the mountains have cooled and the remaining dragons have entered a deep slumber. In times of great need, a hero may awaken one of these dragons, but only the greatest of heroes may ride these mounts. The Dragon Princes have not lost any of there battle skills and therefore enter battle of great elven steeds covered in burnished armour shaped to look like a dragon.
